where have you been?

yikes, been nearly a month since i last posted... well, guess i'll catch the world up on me. i'm back at school. classes started today. fun stuff... er something. anyway, i came down to shampoo bananna last monday with mike and corey because of our fraternities initiations taking place. last tuesday... one week ago... it was 65 degrees outside. january 11th, 2005. champaign, il was 65 degrees warm. that afternoon it rained. it continued to rain into the night. a big thunderstorm occured. tons of lightning and thunder. pretty cool actually, but i digress. overnight it got colder and colder untill the next morning when the rain turned into snow and accumulated an inch or so. thats right. in the span of 24 hours it went from amazingly temperate weather (shorts wouldn't've been out of the question even), to frickin freezing and snow. i hate the midwest weather.

so yeah, its been cold for the past week since that beautiful day, and the 10 day forecast doesnt get above 40 degrees. i'm excited. so what else... initiation was fun, i'm proud to welcome 9 new brothers into the anthemios chapter of APX.

over break i saw a bunch of movies and saw a show, so that was cool. gotta love the d&e. saw a cool new band at that show (new to me anyway) called ludo. they were a lot of fun. saw meet the fockers, life aquatic with steve zissou, closer, ocean's twelve, spanglish, sideways, and the phantom of the opera. my top three, in descending order, were Phantom.... and Ocean's 12 and Closer tied for second (cuz they're totally different but i loved them both). but yeah, phantom of the opera... amazing. i've never seen a stage production of it, but it was awesome. i knew the music a little bit from playing medleys of it in band and having listened to the broadway soundtrack, but it was even better than i could've imagined. not to mention Emmy Rossum is amazingly goregeous. but, again, i digress.

christmas i got a crapload of bestbuy giftcards so i splurged and bought myself a pimp soundcard and got a 5.1 surround sound speaker system. i forgot all of my clothes here at school when i went home, so my parents gave me some of my presents early (giftcards) and i went out and bought some new clothes. i also got a bunch of new clothes for christmas... so that was cool, a bunch of sweaters, which i've become a fan of. there's these ones i've got that zip up from the chest to the neck, and have a high collar, i got a few of those. i like 'em. got some blue cordoroy pants. never had cords before, but i like them, they're super comfortable. got rounders and spiderman 2 on dvd. a spacepen (by far been one of the most useful christmas gifts i've gotten). and a bunch of other random stuff. oh yeah! one of those hovercraft things they sell in kiosks at malls [its got a remote control and its basically a big fan that hovers. its far to entertaining for as simple a toy as it is].

what else.... well the sunday i went home we went out to nicks apartment to see ocean's 12 and hang out at his place. on the way there i got a phone call from a random southern illinois number that i didnt know. turned out to be that girl from cly's i mentioned before. she wanted to makes sure i didnt think she was ignoring my call a couple days before. so i'm gonna call her later this week to see if she wants to do something this weekend.... we'll see how that pans out.

new years was at nick's apartment with all his sister's friends... so that was a nice change of pace... there were more girls than guys there. dan punched out a window. somebody puked on the carpet. i dont remember anything of substance after 12... and my memory is spotty before twelve too. at least i remember midnight though.

so thats about it for me for now. maybe i'll come up with some work of fiction soon. havent posted any of that in a while.

today's recommendations:
movie- The Phantom of the Opera
little known band- Ludo
speaker system- surround sound
temperature- 60 or better.... at least highs above 20.
