I'm not a big fan of winter. Sure it makes warm weather nicer, but I think I'd still enjoy Spring, Summer, and Fall if Winter didn't envolve freezing temperatures. But alas, I live in Chicagoland, and cold weather is something I have to cope with. We nearly avoided the majority of snow this year, but now I hear there's gonna be a blizzard on Sunday. Needless to say I'm less than excited, but Ryan D'Agostino pointed out one of the brighter points of cold weather

The Endorsement: Wool Tights
Let the philistines have their bare legs, For the clingy joys of winter are just as enticing.
By Ryan D'Agostino
There are no sundresses in winter. No halter tops, no flirty short shorts, no elegant scoop necks. Instead, women smother their limbs with turtlenecks, Gore-Tex, and long coats—an inevitable fact that makes the long, dark, slushy days of winter longer, darker, and slushier.
But one cold day soon, if you're lucky, down the street will walk a blessed ray of sunshine: a woman wearing tights. Thick wool tights that keep the wearer's every calf muscle, thigh curve, and kneecap toasty without shielding them from view—sexy enough that they almost make bare skin seem blasé. See, for all its virtue, the female summer wardrobe can be desensitizing in its flesh-baring ubiquity, like eating foie gras for dinner every night. But tights in winter always catch you off guard. And should you find yourself suddenly staring at a pair of long, matchstick legs emerging gloriously and incongruously from beneath a parka, you will not for that moment care a lick about the impending nor'easter. Even as the wind whips your corduroys, you will think of sundresses and summer. And you will feel warm.
To whom do we owe our gratitude? Men, apparently. Wore tights back in the Renaissance. Another 600 years passed before they made their way onto the female leg, and for the past few years they've enjoyed quite a resurgence. Even leggings (tights minus feet) are back with a vengeance. We just hope wool tights don't get too popular. Better to be caught by surprise.
Amen to tights... but I do still miss halter tops.
i love me some new music. and some new music that i think you should check out is "Rhythm Del Mundo." It features a bunch of Cuban recording artists, and some top music from the states.
I heard Coldplay's "Clocks" from this album on WXRT, and it was awesome. The intro is the same, then it gets all samba-ee. If you know me, you know I dig an awesome cover, and this is even better. Its like a remix cover. and its full of deliciousness for your ears. But if you're only gonna listen to one song... listen to two instead: "Clocks" and "Dancing Shoes" by Arctic Monkeys. That song fits into a samba sound perfectly. and whoever made that music video did a kick ass job. hilarious.
that is all for now.
happy new year. i resolve to blog more.
